Training

RoSPA-IART training uses the Police system of motorcycle control, a proven system of motorcycle control developed over many years.

Training is free to members of the group and is provided by one of the group's qualified Advanced Riding Tutors. Every member is assigned one of the group's tutors for one-to-one tuition at mutually convenient times.

All of our Tutors are volunteers, and experienced bikers with a passion for motorcycling, road safety and helping others to improve their riding. Our Tutors hold either a Silver or Gold grade RoSPA Advanced Motorcycle certificate.

After a small number of lessons you should feel more confident on your machine, and hopefully your riding skills will rapidly improved.

You can have as many lessons as you need (our Tutors need only the smallest reason to go for a spin!) until you reach a level that enables you to approach the test with confidence.

You will feel much more confident about your driving or riding skills and will be much less likely to have an accident.

Skills including hazard awareness, 360 degree vision, positioning and motorcycle control.

You will be followed on your motorbike by a Tutor on their own motorcycle. You will stop from time to time to discuss what has happened and how you can improve your riding. All lessons are free to members. All our trainers are volunteers and receive no reimbursement of costs, such as petrol, from the group. So if you feel it appropriate to make a contribution to the trainers' fuel costs or buy breakfast or coffee, please feel free. Please remember that they are giving their own time and using their own motorcycle and fuel freely to guide you through your test.
